Atoms, as we might’ve seen them through a microscope if they weren’t so incredibly tiny.
"Energy secured," says deputy representative Trond Prunefellow Jr. of the Workaholic Party (WP) to Smalltown Magazine, receiving an enthusiastic backslap from Børst Fudgewood of the Twisted Party (TP).
“Finally got the Workaholics on board,” adds Fudgewood, thumping Prunefellow Jr. on the back. “Now we’re talking enough power to light this town for the next hundred years.”
“So… we’re getting some old nuclear plants?” we summarize. “That sound... super safe?”
“Absolutely,” assures Trond Prunefellow Jr. “We’ll install the reactors in the old utility building, load them up with atoms1, and press the start button. There’s a manual included, so it should be all fine.”
“And then we’ll have enough electricity to export to the whole county!” Fudgewood chimes in with classic entrepreneurial flair.
“Cool,” we nod. “But where do you even get the fuel? Isn’t that, like, extremely regulated?”
“Not a problem,” grins Prunefellow Jr. “Nuclear fuel is just atoms, and atoms are everywhere. I saw a couple of reels2 on Instagram saying everything’s made of atoms—so we just scoop in whatever garbage we can find. That way we generate power and clean up at the same time.”
1 Atoms are the extremely small particles that make up all matter.
2 Reels are short vertical video clips on Instagram (like TikTok) focused on creativity and entertainment.
