Boat refugee Maja now in a steady job at Smalltown Mechanical Workshop, welding both large and small cargo boats.
Smalltown Magazine reported in March on Harbor Master Roger Lifejacket's concerns about "boat refugees" drifting into Smalltown Harbor.
Boat refugees Maja and Alice, who crossed the fjord from Sweden on a raft, have been granted asylum status and have completed their introduction program with a grade of B.
The two refugees have also secured full-time jobs at Smalltown Mechanical Workshop—Maja as a welder, and Alice as an accounting assistant.
Party leader of the Twisted Party, Silva Lysthus, says it is irresponsible of the city council to grant them refugee status, as they have no family in Smalltown to reunite with.
Smalltown Magazine has learned that the case may be reviewed by the Directorate of Immigration (DOI).
